Djokovic drops out of Australian Open in shock defeat to Chung Hyeon

six-time champion Novak Djokovic shocked by Chung Hyeon with a straight-sets victory to advance in unlikely Australian Open quarter-final  to face Tennys Sandgren.


Former world No 1 Djokovic, playing with a sleeve over the elbow that had him out for six months, affected by his lack of competitive tennis as he suffered a 7-6 (7-4) 7-5 7-6 (7-3) defeat to relentless 21-year-old Chung.


Chung, lost in three sets to Djokovic at the Australian Open in 2016, but he ended the Serb's chances of reaching the last eight in Melbourne for a 10th time.


Chung said "I didn't know how I'd win tonight. I was just honoured to play against Novak and happy to see him back on the Tour," , who became the first South Korean ever to reach a Grand Slam quarter-final. he also added


 "I try to copy Novak in the way I play, he is my idol."
